More Updates to Come

Hi there race fans. I apologize for the hours of silence from our end today. Things got a little hectic around finish time, and somewhere in the melee, I felt it best to hand over my list of finish times to Josh so he could determine the official results. Because of that, the Leaderboard won't be updated again since the finish times won't reflect the actual results. I also felt it necessary to take a few cat naps here and there since I was starting to see double and all this coverage I've been doing was starting to make me feel like I had competed in the race myself, so that might explain the gaps between updates.

As of 11am this morning, all teams had either crossed the finish line or withdrawn and been accounted for (please note that there were no serious injuries during the race, only your standard issue bumps & bruises). About 33% of our teams cleared the course, which was pretty close to our estimates, although our finishing time estimates were a little off. The awards ceremony occurred at 2pm and I'm working on rounding up those results for you. The official results for all teams should be posted within the next day or two since I know Josh is avidly working on providing those for everyone.

For photos and videos, we will have a few pics posted on our Photobucket site (http://s723.photobucket.com/albums/ww237/atomicaralbum/) as well as videos on our YouTube page (http://www.youtube.com/user/AtomicAdventureRace). We're currently trying to determine a method for you to view all the videos without a YouTube account, but until then, you must have a YouTube account to see these. The Elle Studio was busy taking MANY shots during the race, most of which we were unable to upload at the time. The Elle Studio is currently developing a way of providing all the photos to racers, probably in the form of cds. Please keep an eye on the Atomic AR site and/or this feed for further info on that.

The racers all did a fantastic job, there were many shows of perseverance and determination for all the teams out there as well as impressive displays of good sportsmanship and race conduct.

*** I especially would like to note that Shake A Leg Miami in particular impressed us all with their race conduct and excellent sportsmanship. At the Radiation Burn challenge, they returned a dropped map which belonged to Team Lab Rats, who they were neck to neck with the whole race. They had a very strong finish and we were all impressed by their performance. The route they accidentally took to the finish was off limits for safety reasons since it was a busy highway, and after the initial post race confusion (they were just as perplexed as Lab Rats as to how they managed to pass them on the way from Wildcat to the finish without seeing them), they realized this and freely offered the information to us in order for us to determine how to address the situation. They are a spectacular team and they blew us all away with their strength and fortitude this weekend.
